
Oath of the Yeoman of the GuardI sincerely promise and swear to serve His Most Sacred Majesty King Henry the VIII, by the Grace of God King of England and Wales, Defender of the True Ancient and Catholic Faith, His Heirs and Successors, lawful Kings and Queens of these realms both faithfully and truly in the place and office to which I am now called unto, and to be placed in, namely as one of the Yeoman of the Guarde of His Majesty’s Guarde. In all things touching His Honour and Safety, I shall neither myself do, or procure, or give consent to be done by any other, any manner of thing that shall or may be prejudicial, or hurtful of His Majesty’s Person, Crown, or Dignity, or to any of the Royal Family. But if I shall hear of , or by any way understand any such, or that any manner of Bodily hurt, dishonour, or prejudice may be in agitation, contriving, or likely to happen, I shall do as much as in me lyeth to prevent, stop and hinder the same, and besides to disclose and discover it with all speed to His Majesty, or to such of His Majesty’s Council as I can or may come next unto , or to me or one of my Officers on duty, and by all ways and means I can possibly, to cause the same to be made known. I swear to be obedient to my Captain and all other of my Officers, of the said Guarde in all things concerning my office in His Majesty’s Service. I shall keep the Kings’ peace in my own person both in the Court, and all other places as much as in me lyeth, and shall cause all others to do the same to the utmost of my power.
